Position Description:

  • View and manage cameras and access control;
  • Handle facility emergency calls;
  • Receive information from officers about facilities;
  • Electronically process medical, burglary, trespass/unauthorized entry and life safety alarms signals and dispatch appropriate response personnel;
  • Monitor and accurately record the time calls are received as well as when dispatched, and the time the en-route officer arrives and clears the call;
  • Monitor radio channels of communications for officers in need of backup or assistance;
  • Respond to alarms using electronic monitoring software to assist with the notification of police, fire, or emergency medical personnel;
  • Disarm and re-arm alarms when prompted or as required;
  • Answer 9-1-1 emergency telephone and alarm system calls;
  • Determine the type of emergency, its location, and decide the appropriate response in accordance with Agency procedures;
  • Relay information to the appropriate first-responder agency;
  • Coordinate the dispatch of emergency response personnel to incident scenes; and
  • Keep detailed records of all calls.

General Requirements:

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be 18 years of age or older

Physical Fitness Requirements:

  • Be physically able to perform all duties and functions as specified for the post they are filling;
  • Possess binocular vision correctable to 20/20 and close vision correctable to Jaeger No. 4 type test for both eyes;
  • Be free of color blindness;
  • Have normal fields of vision and good depth perception, as defined by the Snellen chart;
  • Have hearing which is correctable to normal level hearing with hearing aids. Normal hearing levels are demonstrated by a pure tone audiometry hearing level (HL) of 0 decibels (dB) or lower; and
  • Be able to stand continuously for 4 hours at a time.
